I live in the white bread city of Oshawa, Ontario, better known as the 'shwa, where I'm loving life as a newlywed and the chaos of our lives that includes two big dogs (borzoi) and two overly affectionate cats in a tiny 1940s house we're trying to whip into shape.
I have a long hair mutt (we call her Box of Rocks...she answers to it!!). I usually shave her too for the summer as she just sheds something awful. I prefer her with the long hair, but, nobody can wear black around her and one does get tired of watching a hairball tumbleweed rolling around the floors. Of course, she acts as tho I'm killing her while I shave her.
sunshine scribe: Glad you agree- Dave thinks I'm nuts to think they look like jack russells. They're already enjoying the cooler coats and I actually think they look cuter shaved.
elainemi: I read on another blog that the dust bunnies in her house were starting to ask for carrots and lettuce- mine are that way too.
Elaine: PetSmart doesn't shave cats. I checked. :P
Wordgirl: I don't imagine these dogs could survive very long in Texas. They're the dogs rolling around in the snow when it's -20 to cool off.
Elaine....I've had the experience of shaving a few cats. Believe me, it's NOT a pretty sight. For the cat or the groomer. Besides, cats ALWAYS get you back. Whether it's from biting and scratching during the shaving or they leave a calling card in the middle of your bed. Or they do all 3.
Elaine: Yeah, I've pondered it. Nemo is a pretty laid back kitty, but I don't think he'd tolerate that. Plus, I have his mother too, and she's still protective of him(despite the fact that he's 4 years old). I'd end up in trouble from both....which could be bad :)
Nancy: They look like they're standing different because their necks were so bushy and covered with hair before. I love our non-standard house, even if it's itty bitty. Thanks for stopping by!

They do look like over grown jack russle terriers! But in a cute way. They are HUGE. My son could ride one - he is desparate for a dog

If only I could shave Nemo....that cat sheds something fierce....

It really accents their cheekbones :o)
Dude.
Where did you get those panda bears from?
I didn't know they let you keep Panda's in the city.
That's quite a difference! Reminds me of when we used to get our Sheepdog sheared down for the summer. She went from fat to skinny in seconds flat.
TB: I told them you liked it, and they're flattered. Then they started licking their butts.
Sara: Yeah pandas are legal here. That's why I need to go to Colasanti's all the time... to get bamboo.
mama_tulip: If only I could go from fat to skinny in seconds! I like the short hair much better!
Great dogs! I don't think I'd be able to keep up to them.
Someting blue: they do love running at full speed but are mostly couch potatoes that sleep all day.

WOW. They do look completely different without the fur -- they even look like they're standing differently!
And what a cute house you have.
Thanks for stopping by my blog tonight!
