Good idea, bad idea

I make it a point to NEVER blog about work. While it gives me some fantastic stories I'd love to share, I usually can't (or just plain don't) share them.

The other day something happened that I think is worthy of breaking the above rule.

You see, when you go to court, you line up at a wanding station just inside the door. It's like airport security. You empty your pockets, they search the things you put there, and you go through the metal detector thingy, get wanded down by another officer. It's a pretty elaborate setup, and it's nice that as a lawyer I completely get to skip it.

So I was standing near the front entrance to the court the other day, talking to someone, when I heard the officer at the wanding station say "whose is this" I turned around.

There he stood with a big ziploc bag that had been pulled out of someone's purse - big enough for about a pound of grapes - full of marijuana. All three people who had just gone through said "it's not mine!"

Let's review:
good idea: attend court dates as required by law
bad idea: bring illicit substances with you to said court dates

Good idea, bad idea

GOOD IDEA: Buy beautiful grey cashmere sweater (hereinafter known as "good idea sweater") which shows just the right amount of cleavage without looking like you should be standing on a street corner wearing ripped red fishnets and a short white tube-top style skirt. Even better idea, buy one that's on sale which is perfect for going to bars on winter nights without also freezing. Have fond memories of the many phone numbers you amassed because of this shirt.

GOOD IDEA: Fall crazy in love and get engaged to a guy who is wicked good at getting laundry done. Throws it all in the washer, then all in dryer with amazing ability. Even better idea when you really suck at laundry.

BAD IDEA: The "throw it all in washer then in dryer" style as it pertains to above good idea sweater. Sadly good idea cashmere sweaters do not appreciate the washer-then-dryer on high heat method.

EVIDENCE:
Excuse the Marie Antoinette look, but here is Dave modeling the sweater, and one pic of my sunglasses on top of it. I'd guess it'd fit most five year old girls, and probably Victoria Beckham. When he came up to show me, he couldn't stop laughing and apologizing profusely. He even tried to stretch it so it'd fit again but we quickly learned he couldn't get his elbow past the shoulder part. We both agree it's a lost cause.
